Club Classics - An Idea

The idea behind 'Club Camembert' came from our founder, Dan, a couple of years ago. As someone who used to very much love going proper raving back in the early to late 90s, he was looking for something different, an alternative to the still burgeoning House and Garage scene.

Because, in his words, while he still admired those in their 50s and 60s who still had the verve to go actual raving, he wanted some a little more gentle.

Back in the day, Dan would frequent such places as SW1, Leisure Lounge, Ministry, Club UK, EC1, Bagelys, and even a couple of events at The Dalston Multicultural Centre in Aswin Street in Dalston, just spiting distance from Labyrinth. He even worked for 6 months at  Strawberry Sundae - being incapacitated whilst trying to work the lighting!

But what about now? Now he just wanted to go somewhere where he could groove rather than " 'Ave It!". So he got to thinking, "What did we used to do in the 80s and 90s if we weren't going proper raving?" 

"That's it! Darren and Sharon Clubs! Dave and Dorice places! Caeser's, Cinatra's, Bon Bonne, Southsides, Ritzy, Cinderella's, Options, Eros, Theatre" - Where they would very rarely play pop BUT would always play commercial dance. So along came Club Camembert, not quite cheesy cheese, but somewhere you could sway to Soul, Swing, RnB, House, and Garage.

Club Camembert, where good vibes and great music come together! People love to groove to the unique sounds of our resident DJ, **Mista D**. With a rich history at the renowned Streatham Soul Club, Mista D has established himself as a force in the soul scene, lighting up dance floors with his infectious energy. His extensive experience at soul and reggae weekenders across the globe brings a diverse and vibrant flair to our club night.
